In the 19th century the use of the new technique of photography led to noteworthy changes in the practice of science. The Museo Galileo conserves archival records, cameras and, of course, photographs that testify to this change. Visitors to this exhibition can admire optical and technical instruments that are not on permanent display, as well as a selection of documents from the Research Library of the Museo Galileo. These exhibits testify to the pre-eminent role played by Florence in the development of a new approach to “doing science” and to documenting the world around us.
